The Challenge

SugarTrends started as an MVP on a custom PHP shop. It worked — until they needed multi-seller marketplace features. The homegrown solution couldn't scale. Time to migrate to Magento without losing data or sellers.

My Approach

1

Live Migration

Moved products, customers, and order history from custom PHP to Magento's EAV model with zero data loss

2

Marketplace from Scratch

Custom Magento modules giving each merchant their own dashboard for products, orders, and reporting

3

Shared Storefront

Sellers get isolated catalogs, buyers get one seamless search and checkout experience

Tech Stack

Platform Magento 2, PHP
Migration Custom PHP → EAV data mapping
Marketplace Custom multi-vendor modules
Delivery Cologne & Lisbon offices

Impact

SugarTrends could now scale sellers without scaling the dev team. The marketplace became their key differentiator. My first major platform migration — it shaped how I approach every complex transition since.
